Stampede, CA
Stampede Reservoir is located 10 miles northeast of Truckee, CA. Stampede Dam was built in 1970 and is owned and operated by the United States Bureau of Reclamation. The reservoir has a surface area of approximately 3,340 acres and storage capacity of 224.500 acre-ft. Average elevation of the reservoir is 5949 ft AMSL. Water releases to the Truckee River are used to improve spawning conditions of the endangered cui-ui fish downstream. Average temperatures reach 84 °F in the summer and 42 °F in the winter. Annual precipitation is 19.16 inches. Reservoir water supply is primarily from wintertime precipitation and spring snow-melt in the surrounding mountains.
