American Falls, ID
American Falls Reservoir is located at mile 714 of the Snake River near American Falls, ID. The original dam was constructed in 1928 and later upgraded in 1978. Reservoir operations are managed by the United States Bureau of Reclamation for flood control, irrigation, power generation, and recreation. The reservoir has a storage capacity of 1,672,590 acre-ft at 4354.5 ft AMSL and an average surface area of approximately 56,000 acres. At full capacity, the reservoir has an average depth of 30 ft. Water level is dominated by snowmelt-based influxes in the spring and irrigation releases during the summer and fall. Average temperatures at the dam reach 88 °F in the summer and 17 °F in the winter. Annual precipitation is 11.71 inches.
